But I Need Money Now!

You know those JG Wentworth commercials - "Get Cash Now!!" ?
Yeah, I hate that jingle. It gets stuck in my head at the worst of times.

Most of what I'm recording on here at the crazyscheminglostcyclist is the slow slog to financial independence.

But what about the electric bill that needs to be paid tomorrow, the down payment I need for my new house on the 15th and the flat tire I got driving home from work today?

"Chicken Entrepreneur"
I'm a chicken about leaving my comfy 40 hours per week job.  I like health benefits. I'm a fan of food. Owning my own home is pretty cool, too.

So in addition to working towards financial independence, I'm going to be working my normal gig.

In addition to that, I've run across a few online gigs that can help close the gap between the paycheck and the bills.  These work from home jobs help fund my coffee habit, as well as things such as buying domain names for my websites and my Keyword Academy Membership.

And, yes, those flat tires.

TextBroker
Textbroker pays anywhere between .7 cents and 1 cent per word you write.  Once you get approved, they tell you what level your writing skills are at, and let you choose from any of the topics on there.  Typically there are always 100 or so 1-cent-per-word articles pending, so plenty to choose from. ( I just wrote one on All Wheel Drive Vehicles, and another on Women's Hair Loss)

I hear that as you write more for them, they increase your pay grade. Eventually you can make it up to 5 cents per word.  That's $15 for the average sized (300-word) article.  Right now I'm just taking a couple of hours a day to right 2-3 articles.  It gets deposited into my PayPal once a month.

LeapForce
I'm a huge fan of LeapForce.  Basically, you log in to their server and review search results to help search engines evaluate how well their systems are working.  For each hour you do this, you get paid $13.50.  I could probably quit my day job and do that full time, but they only seem to have about 20-30 hours of work per week.

That said, we received many paychecks from them before I decided it was pulling too much time out of my life in addition to my real job.  It would be a perfect job for a stay - at - home mom (or dad!), though.

Blogsvertise
This was something my wife learned about.  Basically, Blogsvertise either pays you per purchase made through a banner ad on your blog, or for placing an article or review on your blog.  For example, I made $10 to post an article on my Solar Energy Website.

Sure, It's rather weird to have an article about kickboxing sandwiched between solar panel costs and solar powered battery chargers, but a few $10 articles will easily pay for your hosting costs for a year.

Since we have several blogs in there, we get several jobs most weeks from them.  My wife keeps a close eye on their assignment list from 7am - 10 am as that is when most of the tasks seem to post.

So, that's all we've tried so far. Enjoy the extra spending money!
